What does the future hold for humanity? I painted a not very pretty picture in my latest novel, Face/Mask, an uncompromising look at what humans are doing to the planet and to their own souls. Some readers have reacted to it:
"In Face / Mask, Gabriel Boutros presents an uncomfortable alternative view of the near future... Face/Mask is a well-considered look at the mess that humanity could all too easily get itself into..."
"People are forced to wear air filter masks, due to the air not being safe to breathe. The world as we know it has changed to a time where there is really no day or night. The toxins beyond the atmosphere barely let any sunshine in through the day and reflects light from the sun at night. This is a dark time where fresh grown veggies are things of the past and only read about in history books."
"...he takes us on a dystopian journey through the remnants of a deeply decayed and poisonous Montreal circa 2039."
"The author of Face/Mask manages to paint a vivid picture of an almost-foreign world where the often-extreme measures needed for simply remaining healthy have become routine."
"...there is a loss of hope in humanity that is prevalent throughout this very doomsday anti-authority plot line."
"As the story unfolds it quickly became too close for comfort given the proximity to the events of our present time. It made me aware of the unpleasant future we might be facing given the imminent environmental threats."
